This was taken out of a post on HCS:

"Along with the track damage, damage to the front heat exchanger looks to be another issue with some-and on the Yamaha Attack, it appears to be an extensive job if it needs to be replaced as the x-changer is a structural member of the chassis."
Can anybody comment on the structural part of the chassis and if this applies to a Apex?

i tried to helearc one once - what a disaster - changing it is rough as well - ive repaired a few with some jb weld or this epoxy puddy called strong steel stick - its like a doughy 2 part muffler repair adheasive - clean and scuff up the area - you may want to insert some aluminium material if the hole is big and smoosh it in - ive done this a few times to mine and my buddys sleds and it has always worked - 1 sled has had it for 5 years now - or make an insurance claim and get a new sled -

I have the JB weld on a front exchanger of an XTC for 7 years no issues works great.

Yamadoo

just jb welded mine also.

yes it is a structural part of the sled but it isn't as big of a deal to patch as i am sure was said on hcs.

lift up rear end and place on a milk crate.
drain system. spray the area down with brake cleaner.
using a wire brush on the end of a drill. "a drill bit extension comes in real handy on this part." clean the area.
spray again with brake cleaner.
apply jb weld.
the job should take between 1/2 & 1 hour & costs aprox 10 bucks.
if you have major damage replace the exchanger

If you need to replace it then it is a pretty involved job but in my opinion the majority of holes can probably be pactched as i described above
