While I had my Apex on the lift I noticed that thte front lower A arm bushings were badly worn. Sled has just about 2000 miles. First I thought that the bolts were loose because when you shake the arm the bolt head moves. After taking the air box out to access the rear nut I found that the bolt WAS NOT loose. The bolt and nut are shouldered and tighten to a limiting point. The bushings are toast and the lower arms dance around enough to be a concern if I am looking to eliminate darting.

Anyone else see this? Dealer was no help.

Check out your tie rod ends too, mine are as loose as a goose too, I noticed them being sloopy after only 1300 miles or so.

Should we be looking at replacement, or coming up with a solution? I haven't had mine apart yet, but I do have some slop in mine as well. I was thinking about some sort of bearing?

SOLUTION

Yamaha should figure something out. What a poor design. I bet they are the same cheap plastic bushings in everything else. They should be brass at least. Ever work on a Polaris ATV front end? Brass bushings with a steel sleeve and grease fittings. Great opportunity for the aftermarket???

If you check yours you will see the bolts dancing around. How long can I ride if before the steel bolt begins to wear away the bulkhead?

One soultion: RIDE IT AND TRADE IT!

There are a total of 12 bushings per side in just the A-arms and the Bulk head..

On my sled i replaced the bushings, and installed Grease Zerts in the A-arms to slow the wear down..

bushing replacement

Don't have the time. Going on a trip have to do it when I come back. I was thinking on installing a wide kit next year. I wonder if the aftermarket kits use a better bushing or just the stock junk?
