Does fox make a rear shock for the apex? Or what would be the best aftermarket shock that will fit in the rear position? Thanks.

I was hoping to find Fox shocks for the stock skid and after much searching (even from Fox) came up empty handed. You can get the rear one from NEXTECH (carbonsled.com) for close to $700 of the Timbersled Mountain Tamer with two Fox shox for $1600. I had though about buying a couple of Fox Floats (if I could find the right length) and have them revalved, but I guessing I would have nearly as much tied up in that as just going with the Timbersled......so I am saving up to go that route.

i have the timbersled skid on my apemtx, and i like it.however it is light, and definatly not strong.if you like to jump, the timberskid would be a poor choice. My riding bud has an 03 trx1 with a 152 expert x,and although the skid weighs a ton,it is absolutly bullet proof, and rides like a cadallac. Not a mountain skid by any meens, but ditch banging, and rough trail second to none imho.

I installed a hpg from the 2007/8 Venture GT. It fit perfectly, is rebuildable, less than $350, and I have had no bottom out issues since. Nextech has a fox float kit. That wasn't an option when I was searching.
