Looking at purchasing a newer apex 2011 or 2012. After seeing my friends new 2012 nytro xtx rear suspension when pushed down and not rebounding back did not like that. Then reading all problems and fixis that are going on with that sled why spend thousands of hard earn dollars on a sled than having to turn around and spend hundreds of dollars to try and fix it, I don' need that. Is that the same suspension used on apex xtx? If so how is standard apex for ride. I always thought the longer the track better the ride.

Keep in mind that the standard apex is the 128 Mono II, not the 121 Mono I. It rides great, in my opinion better than the XTX.

The sack is there by mid season I found when I bought new. Mine sags 1-2", and a couple inches more while sitting on it. Star susp is way to go but at this point I don't have any problems with clearance or bottoming out.

Thanks... I'm leaning towards the Apex 128 just because of that reason. Sounds like that they ride just as nice if not better.

If you notice I have both the Nytro & Apex XTX. Yes the skids are supposed to be the same, but after 2 years I see no sag in the Apex XTX that I had in the Nytro? I put in Hy-gears Nylon spring spacers in bot my sleds. I ended up changing the springs in the Nytro to the newer, heavier ones and that took care of the sag. (I am 240# before gear and extra gas on the rear) so that helped alot. I would recommend the XTX, I demo'ed both the 128 & 144 and the 128 didn't have enough bite out of the corners and didn't float as well off trail. There is no way I would own the short model, it was night and day difference, IMO. You better test drive them first and see what you think. I have found the longer the skid the better, especially now that we have the tipped-up rails.

Tipped up rails are a gimmick. If you ride trails, go short. Great suspension, and traction is just fine. Any track can be made to spin if you whack the throttle too much. I've ridden both and much prefer the 128 for all trail riding. If you venture off trail, then longer may be your preference. But realistically, neither 128 or 144 do well off trail.

Have ridin both, the mono produces a much better ride for trails, hands down. If you want a nice ride go with the mono and if you cant stand 128, extend it. The xtx skid will not give the plush ride the mono will by design.
We lined up an apex 128, with 2 2011 apex xtxs, The xtxs put 20 feet on the shorty and then all 3 were even through a quarter mile in knee deep snow.

I like the xtx better in loose snow conditions almost to much grip on hard pack through the turns and handles big bumps well. But when you ride the 128 it shines really good in hard pack conditions but not as much grip in loose conditions. 128 bottoms out a little more on the big bumps but rides better on the stutter bumps, I would really like to have both.rx1fastervmax4 said:Looking at purchasing a newer apex 2011 or 2012. I was thinking it was for you. Seeing it's for the wife and daughters, get the Vector LTX. A little lighter, better on fuel and I bet it will have all the motor they wantrx1fastervmax4 said:Great feedback... Will be the wifes and daughters sleds so they will be on trail only no off trail. Thanks.

x2, We didn't know it was for the ladies. The vector will really surprise you, has alot of get up and go out of the hole with the Nytro motor, just missing the top end pull. Quite a few thousand less than the Apex. I doubt if the ladies will notice the difference and you will have saved a bundle.

Does the XTX not have the same dreaded "CK" skid that the 07 RTX had? If so, it is garbage unless they did some serious revamping! That skid is the reason I got rid of the RTX & went with the Attak with the mono.

I agree. Get the Vector LTX.
It may be my next naturally aspirated sled.
If they have to be Apex's get the 128 Standard.

LTXs have the 136 mono. Great ride, great engine, and cheaper. Needs to 2012 or newer for EPS.
