I want to put teh seat from an Apex on my 03 RX-1. I just visited a friend who put an Apex seat on his RX-1, what a huge difference in the seating position and comfort. I have posted want ads and looked around at a lot of swap meets without finding a good used Apex seat. I'll have to buy a new seat. I want the seat which has the storage compartment , has the firmest foam and the blue accent panel or an all black seat. Can anyone point me the year and model no. of the Apex with this seat? Thanks!!

They all have storage and the firmest are apex mountain and apex rtx seats.....pm LANEO he usually has some way cheaper than buying new

when you get ahold of LANEO you should ask him about an apex tail light and rear trim too. It really updates the look from the RX lights

heres some pics of mine

Good idea, I sent him a message asking about the seat. If he does not have one I will try a couple of sled salvage yards. If i can't find a used seat in excellent condition, I'll buy a new one.

Did you have a new seat cover made or did you havethe original cover modified to cahnge the panel from silver to yellow? Who did the work for you?

Thanks!!

I had a local Automotive Upolstery shop replace the silver panel with yellow and they also changed some of the black peices because there was a few spots that had holes. They reinforced the back where the seat comes to a "point" above the light its common for that area to wear through. They did it all for $120 which I didnt think was to bad at all

oh yeah if you get a mountain seat you will have to buy a the mounts for the tail light. The mountain seats dont have the lights mounted in them just a bracket for the rear plastic the lights are on the tunnel on those sleds.

I just did a Apex seat sway on my '03 RX1 over the weekend. Pretty straight forward job. Look up a post by "Kinger" on how to perform the electrical harness swap, great post. Mbarclay has a nice one too. Cutting the shroud will have you nervous but it's easy. Schools of thought are to cut anywhere from 3" to 3.5". I found 3.25" to be ideal. A pc of automotive door edge trip completes the job. It is possible to use a standard Arrow T50 stapler getting the edge of the seat cover re-attached but you have to REALLY PRESS DOWN HARD to get the staples to bury in the plastic. I used 5/16" staples.
As far as finding a seat, I scored mine on Snowwest forum. Search John Dee and simply search Craigslist for "apex seat". Got mine for $200.00 shipped from Montana and she's a beaut!
Night and day seat position. Glad I did it. My knees bought me a beer.

Just spotted an Apex seat for sale on Snowest. You'll have to register for the website. Guy's looking to get 200.00 plus shipping. Has the blue stripe. Didn't state what style Apex it was from.

Im planning on taking the seat off my 07 Apex MTN this summer, still ngot 2 months of riding left, if any of you RX-1 guys are looking for one it has a few small holes from boots and snowboards, its the blue stripe, Located in Whistler BC.
