I was at my local Farm & Fleet today and noticed an SAE 0W-30 100% synthetic oil specifically for 4-stroke snowmobile engines. The oil is called Arctic BLue. Bottle also specifically mentions - "for use in Yamaha". Price seems right at $6.49 a quart, but has anyone ever used this oil? Made by Como lube & supplies in Duluth, MN
Just curious if anyone's tried this oil yet. I'm not sure if I want to be the guinee pig.
Thanks.

oil
Why would an oil made for 4 strokes, not be a good oil for 4 strokes?

he was asking if anyone has used it. he is new and deserves a welcome.
no I have not used it. I run amsoil. about the same price and proven by many users on the boards.

monster,
You are right, I'm sorry.
I keep reading posts by people that think there is something different about our engines when it comes to maintenance.
We take our $40,000 trucks to the oil change every 3,000 miles, and don't worry about what brand of oil to use.
Any oil of the proper rating number, and recommended weight, will be fine. Just like for all the other vehicles.

Thanks guys. I know ANY 4 stroke oil will technically work, however I've never heard of this company before. Not all 4 stroke oils are created equally. Amsoil, Mobil 1, royal purple, etc, all have good reputations. Arctic Blue (Como Lubes) is one I've not ever heard of. Just wondering if they are new, or ?

I have never heard of the company. at 11,000 rpm i want a name brand.. at 4,500 rpm in my truck i am not as worried about who produced the oil.
also you may want to add your location as it is a forum rule.

Re: oil filter
no offense taken just trying to welcome newcomers. I do always like to run name brand oils when i have the choice. If its my truck i run motorcraft 5w-20 semi synthetic from walmart at 12.50 for 5 qts. I think its a great deal considering what plain jane oil runs these days.
in my sled i run the best i can find because that little motor scares me to death (while at the same time delighting me
) with the rpm it winds and i want every bit of protection possible.

These sleds are dry sump so starting should not really be an issue. Its not like the crank is going through oil to start it.

oh I know....just saying the thinner oil gets where its going quicker especially at extra cold temps and seems to run smoother...also, even though it shouldnt matter... seems to turn over easier at extra cold temps..
