You're doing it on a short track right? curt79 must have a mountain sled, and he wanted to run a 3" paddle track that is 3" pitch or something.
You don't want that. You are going to want 9 tooth 2.52 pitch, so its the same size as stock. No modifications needed, you just need to have a track with all open windows.
Or you can run 8 tooth drivers, 2.52 pitch. This way you would have a little more clearance and it would be like dropping probably 2 gears I think. I wish I would have done this instead of 9 tooth drivers. Might have had to go up 1 gear on the top sprocket in the chain case tho. A studded 1.5" track would be a sweet set up IMO. Not for top speed of course, just on/off trail.

if i run the 8 tooth drivers that would be like dropping 2 gears? as in more low end?
What are you guys running for a track? I didnt think about that
lol. just got an 09 with 0 miles on it, so has 1.25 ripsaw but obviously not all open windows.

I THINK it would be like dropping two gears, that is what the yamaha dealer told me. It might not be that much. So yes, more bottom end.
You can run the stock track, you just gotta cut open all the windows with a sharp knife. Clipping the track would be a good idea, but you don't have to, you can run it without the clips.
What kind of riding you planning on doing? All on trail? Some off trail? Mostly off trail?

oh ok, i thought about cutting open the windows. i do basically all on trail. i mess around off a little bit but im from upstate NY and we dont get/have much for off trail deep snow riding. mostly hardpacked trails, but i have had problems with my track ratcheting when it hooks up or off in some deeper stuff.

Cool. will i have to change any gearing if i do them? either 8 or 9 tooth? How big of a job is it really? Im pretty machanically inclined. im swapping my 08 engine into my 09 chassis some if i can handle that i would think doing the drivers isnt too bad?

If you can swap a motor, you can switch the drivers. You'll just need to take some measurements before you press your stock drivers off, so you know where to place the new drivers when you press them back on. Its easy once you get the measuring figured out.
But you will need a press. I use the one at the local small engine shop in town. So any shop near you should have one I would think.
If you run 9 tooth drivers, you won't have to change gearing or anything. If you just ride on trail, then that is what I would do and stick with a 1.25" track. A Camoplast predator would give you a little more off trail performance vs the ripsaw, with similar on trail performance.

I just recieved my new set of Avid 9 tooth 2.52 pitch drivers. I will run this with a BackCountry 1-3/4 121" this winter. Also with a 20 top gear. I cant wait to see how i will like it.

you really want to drop two gears? You had plenty of power with that turbo didn't you?
Running all that power through the chaincase with that small of gear and the long stock chain sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I would get a shorter chain, or a larger rear sprocket...just to be safe IMO.
