Did a awsome ride yesterday with a buddy. The weather finally broke from the -30c temps for the last month and it warmed up to -7c. Total miles were 240 and 12 hours of riding and powder play. Our area is not typicaly known for deep powder but things have changed for this year. The pictures will prove it. There was some large lake crossings that were pretty rough bit it made it worth while once we got to the groomed trail and powder. The groomed trail we took follows a powerline through the precambriam sheield. It is straight as an arrow and as flat as a road for around 75 km. The width of the porewline clearing is about 100 yards and the trail covers about 16 feet of it, the rest of it was.......UNTOUCHED POWDER..... We lucked out and we were the first ones on the freshly groomed trail with 2" of fresh snow. It was a trip to remember and I was absolutly done by the time I got home.
75 km of this
Crossing Athapap lake
on the way home crossing Athapap lake. If you look close the gps says 187 miles and the trip odometer on the sled says 197 miles. Not sure if my sled is that far off or if I just spun the track and extra 10 miles. I did do a lot spinning in the powder.
