Today, I replaced the factory carbides with a set of Bergstrom Triple Points. The factory carbides had about 225 miles on them and the blades were worn down to almost nothing. Now, I've ridden in some low snow conditions and had to cross a few dry paved roads to connect from one trail to another, but nothing ridiculous. I was very surprised to see how bad they were.

If you haven't checked yours yet, do so.

Took my originals off after the first ride. they were 4" and really did not do much at all. I think they just put them on there so they can say that they come with carbides...

We usually get a around 2000 Km out of them here in Ontario and they are 'OK' if there has been no rain and enough snow. I will occasionally throw them back on if there are alot of rocks showing, rather beat the hell out of the 'good' ones. I can see them being completely useless fairly quick in central Michigan though.

agreed snow condtions are everything to how long they last and how much road riding you do. when i got our vector w/ 660 miles on it the runners were paper thin so i know he road around roads alot.

Mine were not showing much wear when I changed them, just couldn't corner on the icy trails. Didn't go well with my studded track either. I'm used to 8" carbides.

Yours had 4"? My originals had just 3" of carbide and no wear pads. They didn't bite worth a crap in corners. I replaced them after ~300 miles and they were half way worn out.

Yeah, you are right. It's been 4 years and I'm gettin' old. Memory is not what it used to be. All I know is that they sucked. Couldn't wait to get them off. They're still floating around here somewhere...

No problem. My memory sucks sometimes, but not as bad as those original runners. I was attempting a little humor, figuring you got an inch more carbide than me and I was envious.

It looks like I should be able to ride this weekend. Just got done snowblowing the driveway and we got about 7 or 8 inches last night. More is predicted later in the week and temperatures should drop into the 20s. Again, if you're ever up this way to ride, give a shout.

I usually take off the factory skegs and save them for when I trade or sell the sled

x2 I didn't think anyone actually used those things!
