I have whatched this sight for a while and decided to join the fun.
I installed the Bender Turbo that I got from Michael Klassen at Bully Dog Technologies. Man this thing rocks!
I ride in the Snowy Range out side of Laramie Wyoming. We unload at about 9,000 ft. This thing runs at 8lbs of boost at over 10,000ft. Very fun to ride and weight is not an issue anymore! I am 6'7" and weight 350lbs with my gear on and I can climb any hill I want. I can't use the excuse that my sled won't do it anymore, it is more like I don't have the Balls to do it because coming down really does suck sometimes.

That's great to hear Mr. Moose (anybody that big deserves to br called SIR). What clutch weights and springs are you using? What RPMs are you turning while climbing? What about mains and pitot jet sizes?
I weight 160-165 lbs. I can't even imagine how it would scare the he!! out of me Great to have some new blood around. Welcome. Powder Blue

Big people have their advantages sometimes, this thing with the turbo does not care how big you are.
I am running 135 mains, 17.5 pilot and my needles are in the middle clip with one washer under and the plastic spacer and washer on top. I had the needle buried alittle more but I ran hot on my pyro in midrange, that is why I raised them alittle and have no probem now. My air jet, pitot on the hill is a 500 and I am running about 1150 on the pyro so I think I might go to a 600 jet on the hill. I run a 400 air pitot jet on the trail at 1250 on the pyro, seems to work well.
I use the stock weights in the primary with 17.5 mm rivots on the tip and 13.5 mm rivots in the middle. Stock spring. Up a hill my RPMs are about 10,600 to 10,800 at 8lbs of boost and down the trail 11,000 rpms at 8lbs to 9lbs of boost depending on elevation. I hit 118mph on the speedo and let out at over 10,000 ft elevation.
If you have a lag you need to make sure you put hose clamps on all of your connections to the carbs because air might be lost. I use CR8 EK spark plugs and that helps smooth out the popping sound. I still am tuning and this thing is a kick. I use 2 gallons of 110 octane fuel mixed with 8 gallons of 91 octane for 225 HP, 5 gallons of 110 and 5 gallons of 91 octane for 260 HP. No problems at all.

I also have Bender stage I kit 180 hp without the intercooler and put a couple of fun switches on to get 8lbs and 12lbs of boost. No need for an intercooler where I ride. I can produce more boost at elevation without the intercooler.
The set up I have will probabally be differen't if I add an intercooler.

Michael IS the man isn't he!!
Moose, are you having any problems with snow/water getting into your system? Did you completely block the hole under the turbo or just partially? Did you drill any cooling holes in the rear of the heat shield?
Glad you like your turbo they do rock!!

Michael is great to work with!
I used some flashing tin, rivioted and block the hole rear end off and drilled some holes under the turbo to help cool. The heat sheild I modified the same way Michael does it with more air coming from the rear vent. No problems what so ever. I really check the sled over after each ride and this thing is very reliable. The new oil system is nice but made me nervous the way you mount it under the seat so I drimalled out the plastic on the seat and wrapped the lines with plastic protectants. I went 108 miles the other day and only burned 7 gallons of fuel, I did burn 1/2 quart of oil though. All my buddies on 2 stroke mods ran out of fuel or were empty. The kicker is I made them all look silly almost like I am in a totally differen't catogory of sleds.

You are in a totally different category!!
Glad your enjoying it. I let a friend ride mine today and he didn't even dare go full throttle. He said, "I have to let off because it seems the power is never going to end".
Have you ridden in any deep powder with it yet. That is the true test for your rear air filter.

I have only ran it in about 2ft of powder nothing really deep yet. I can't wait because this thing gets up on top of the snow and does nothing but gain speed. Deep powder will be the big test since I know it goes well in any condition but that one. Maybe we will get a big storm here and I can post how I do.
I have a buddy that was a little mouthy and I told him to go up a hill and leave it hammered the whole way, I set it 220 hp and he could not do it! He tried 3 times and came back shaking and said he has never rode anything like it. I told him he should be quiet untill he knows the facts. He said he hit 75mph on the speedo and got scared. I looked at my boost guage memory and he only hit 6lbs of boost when he let off. I told him to stick to his Ski Doo.

Moose and I built our turbos together with Klassens help. He was great to work with and seems to have a repore with bender. If you are having trouble getting a turbo fast he or we can help. I am also a dealer with Bully Dog Technologies. For some of you with problems with turbo lag make shure you clamp every air tube that has anything to do with the turbo. My first ride out I had hell with lag about 5 sec. worth so the next morning I clamped all of the hoses that go to the carbs with metal clamps insted of zip ties. Now I anly have about 1 sec. lag. I also had one hose pop off on the top side of the carb closest to the engine and this caused the turbo to not boost and smoke like crazy. I run in the Pindale, Alpine area of the Wyoming Range in Wyoming. My elevation is 7500 to 10000ft and I am running the same setup as moose except my air jet is a 320. This thing runs like a 30000$ super sled and I only have about 14000$ in it. On the trail my jetting is perfect with very little lag. In higher altitude
I see more lag but think I can get it out by jetting the air jet. Ifyou are having trouble with your bender kit I would be happy to help.

Awesome fellas........the more turbos we get on the hills the better.
In a few years who knows...........riding a big twin might seem like riding a 500 indy

It already looks like the big twins are 500's. My brother has a full mod 800cc Polaris motor put in his light weight Yamaha Mt Max chassi. His sled runs very well, he has it set up to Hill climb in the circut this year. We raced, and remember I am a big guy, we took off and he was about 2 ski lengths in front of me, my ski was at his seat, then holy crap  I turned to look how far ahead of him I was and I thought he let off. I was 30 to 40 sled lenghts in front of him thinking he burned down like most two stroke mods do if you don't have it tuned just right. Not the case, this thing is that fast! If I want to drag race and come out of the hole better all I would have to do is add NOS but I see no reason for it. His mod 800 will beat mod 900's down the tail and on the hills.
I love it. I have a sled that rocks in all conditions. Finnally a sled that runs in the mountains and the trail and you know you will make it home every time you ride. plus I got 15 + MPG and I ride hard!
If you have the money don't wait to buy a turbo, weight is not an issue at all, this will be by far the best sled you have ever owned.
Rob T rides with my brother with his Turbo and he can tell you the same story, maybe more becase he got to play with my brother on some big hills.

I was riding with the sled that moose was talking about last weekend we also had a full race mod slp buildt pol 800 pro xr with a 144 finger with screws. The 800 mm and the pol where very simular in performance but against the rxi they werent even close. We didnt have and powder to speak of so I really cant say if I could beat them. There is a very big steep bowl that we where riding in and the snow was hard. The pol climed it a couple of times and it looked as if it was going 30 to 40 mph. I told the pol rider to try mine and compare. At hte bottom of the hill you could tell it was accelerating and his speed was noticably higher than the pol. When he came down he remarked (I saw eighty miles an hour top speed on the speedo and this is going to be my next project)

Rob T why are you being so modest? Your RX-1 Turbo was the talk of the town when you guys got back. I talked to my brother and he said that was the only thing they talked about in the bar all night long. Remember he did not ride the next day because he was hung over and everyone else showed up at about 1:30pm or 2:00pm to ride?
It rocks just say it!

The problem is I wasnt there at the bar so I dont know what they said but if I was the talk of the town that is a first for me and it makes the project that much more worth it. I also dont like completely putting other sleds down because all of them are good for what they are.
