Best Type of Seat Supports for Stock Seat with Glasspack?

Guys, what's the best type of support to use under the back of a stock seat when using a glasspack style under the tunnel single pipe?

I certainly can fabricate something but those of you with experience in this area may have ammended your methods over time.

I have ideas of mounting my battery, tool kit and survival gear under the back fo the seat too.

What works the best?

I don't know how to post pics. But my buddy has a pics of a sled he built in the totallyamaha.com site. It is under the RX1 sleds, then look for CBS Performance, the sled is silver with orange. I am thinking you will like the seat base set up.

Lee, I used a wider stance setup just so that I could get stuff between it and utilize that space! I had snowshoes, folded closed-cell foam pad and a shovel shoved under there and it worked great. My entire survival pack all fit in my Apex seat glovebox. Good luck!

I enclosed the heat shield and re-installed all of the exhaust covers so it still looks stock and can put put back in stock condition easily. My massive survival kit, tools, and rope are all stuffed in there.

I have my seat raised up and moved forward.... fabbed up the two stainless rods which run from the rear of the seat down to the tunnel. They also serve as a mount for the exhaust. W/O exhaust there, you would have tons of room.

There is still plenty of trim work to do...

BJOWETT, I was wanting to raise my 05 RX-1 seat too and you have given me some idea on how to do it.

bjowett-- how did you raise your seat? I have a Boss seat now and would like it taller. Not sure if I can have it stuffed or maybe raise it like yours.

The seat is raised via two blocks of uhmwpe plastic. The stock retaining tabs (which slide under the gas tank) are trimmed off, and a similar tab cut into the blocks of uhmwpe. Does anyone have a spare seat support that didn't quite make the cut?

I was an aircraft structural repairman a few years back and I could build a nice box with a hinged lid that fits under the back of the seat. I'm wondering how much support is really needed that far back. No one actually sits back that far, do they?

you need stiffness in both direction, sideway and back to front. Up and down to. But lateral stiffness is the more important.
