Best way to doctor up a track with a pulled threw stud?

Im selling my 04 warrior to my brother, and it has one pulled threw stud in the center of the track... (nothing rides where it pulled threw) and it tore the track slightly..

Ive ran it for 1200 miles since it pulled threw and it hasnt gotton any worse...

Should i just leave it alone or is there something i should do to keep it from getting any worse?

i heard many guys on this site and the other TY forum say the best thing to do is to heat up a screw driver or something whit a torch and just go around the rip edges to seal it

Just something to think about here , A lot of mountain riders are intentionally drilling 1" holes all over their track to lighten them up , and some mabufacturers are putting out holey tracks ,

Go either route as Tim or Auskins recommended, but don't put a new stud in if you patch it up.

Berverly Tire in Ontario fixes holes in tracks. I sold my predetor track to a local guy...he called me the next day and said he paid $30 each to get the holes repaired!

Damn, guy must have been desperate to lighten things up drilling the track trailside!

No, what turbo tim says is a real thing. My friend in SD who rides the black hills and west to the rockies, his whole group of 9 sleds did the 3 holes across all in one day at the begining of last year. It really decreases the rolling resistance of the track and traps less snow in the tunnel. Not a single problem with doing it out of that whole group of 9 and they are all very happy they did it.

Brian, you work with tires sometimes dont you, at your job? Bet you would be able to find a product (patch) that would work. Heck they recap huge truck tires, must be a way to do a like new repair. :idea: You come up with something you could probably sell it.

Carroltech or Caroltech repairs tracks too. I had the track on my '95 XLT repaired by them.

actually i had thought of putting a patch on both sides of the tear... but not sure it would hold..

If it is accessible, some tire shops can vulanize a patch right in place. Some places will only repair it if the track is off the sled. I remember one outfit at the Toronto snowmobile show last year that would replace chunks right out of the side of a track but unfortunately can't remember the Company name.
