The other post about blacking out tunnels got me thinking. I'm going to have my seat off while changing my exhaust donuts and figured it was a good time to do this. Has anyone on here done it before? If so what vinyl did you use and what did you about the holes in the running boards? Did you wrap the vinyl in (leaving it over the top so that you would stand on it) and cut it or cut it just below the top so that you don't stand on it but could see the metal on top? Thought about doing the bed liner but if I don't like it will be a real pain to get off... Any advice is appreciated!

I havent done this but what I think is to wrap it like a tunnel wrap. boots would just catch edges and pull the vinyl off. Many people also say that the vinyl companies like sled wraps and arctic fx use are special and have a low temp adhesive while most automotive only go to 0 degrees. It wouldnt be that mush money to wrap just the sides and top of a tunnel in vinyl, it can be had for cheap on websites.
Its not like anyone will notice you didnt wrap the running boards cause you will be zooming past them on that rx1!

I had a friend try to wrap his tunnel and the problem was the rivets. He couldnt get the vinyl to lay down right over the rivet heads. If you could get it to lay down I am sure the material would hold up. G.B.

I agree tough to get that to stick around rivets and such.
I think to do it right you'd have to strip it right down. Or maybe doing it in sections would help.
I've seen lots of snoX sleds that looked good on the track but up close there were bubbles all over it.

Thanks everyone. I figured the bolts/rivets would be hard. Any other ideas? I really want it black but not bad enough to strip the whole thing and if I did that I would get it powder coated. Seems like bed liner may be the only option. For people that did that what did you do with the VIN and emissions stickers on the side of the tunnel? May just have to polish it...
