Are these seats really an upgrade and are they worth the extra dough? Considering getting one rather than stuffing foam in the OEM. Prefer the standard Boss rather than the high rise. Would like to hear comments from current or past owners. Sled - '03 RX1

Thanks,
Jon

Jon, save a lot of bucks and add a few inches of foam to your stock seat. The highrise is pure boy racer or mountain seat. IMHO

Also, I've done the forum search and found some good info. I'm concerned about the fit problems and installation hassels. Are those a thing of the past?

Jim, thanks for the advice, but the foam approach may yield decent results, but I'd prefer to avoid that puffy, 'amature job' look. I suppose a 'pro' could do it, but in the end, it's still and '03 seat. I definitely don't want the high rise, but rather I'd like to stay with the stock look that's offered by Boss.

All opinions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

Than keep an eye out for an 05 seat which is the best option, the 04 was a little better and the 05 was much much better.

I looked into getting a Boss seat for my XC. However, at $450 I passed on it.
Instead, I managed to find someone who wanted to swap their Pro-X seat for my XC EDGE seat.
Id either add the foam yourself or try to put a Nytro seat on it.

I'm going to be ordering a seat so is my buddy I have a vector and he has a rx1 they are alot softer and everyone that has one loves the ride of the sled.

They are not softer, in fact they are firmer but provide better support as stock padding is just too thin.

You will be one of the first I know of going from an 05 seat to a Boss except mountain riders.

I love my boss seat, i never had the chance to spend any time on a 05 seat but it feels way better than the 04 seat,it is taller than the stocker and after a long ride it is you can really tell the differance in the seat of your pants .The install is not as hard as every one makes it out to be

Does anyone know if the 06 vector mountain or nytro seats will fit on an 04 warrior. I know that the seat sits higher up on the gas tank but it looks like it just goes around the tank and not under it like the 04 does. Thanks in advance

If you can afford the BOSS, go for it. I love mine. I'd never go back to anything stock, even the 05. The install took about an hour and a half and was not at all hard if you have any mechanical ability what-so-ever. You can order the seat in any stiffness of foam you want and its tailored to your weight and riding style. Form and fit was great. I have no complaints at all. You also save about 8 lbs of weight over the stocker and can remove the seat in about 2 min. Snaps and velcro  . I considered the Nytro seat, but didn't want to cut up my tank shroud and who knows when they'll be available? I don't like working on my sled in the winter, I like to ride it then :D

Jon, The boss is a big weight savings also but it is spendy. I was not in favor of the Flattop before, but now, do that and a bar riser and you would have much of what and Apex is.

Yea,

I've been getting some emails and found a new style RX1 seat is in the works from Boss. I am leaning towards that. Coming off the SRX, I want to make sure my butts taken care of this year.
