First impressions after break in.
Goes like heck
Breaks trail better than my 89 VK's but needs more storage space
Mileage is double my son's 2 stroke
Electrics slow to start on really cold days
No starting problems to -30 C
Description as VK Professional lite is correct
Removed passenger foot rests as they got in the way breaking trail
Previous Yamaha sleds - owned for 10 years or more.
SL292, ET340, 96 Venture TF
Still have (2) 89 VK540

I have an 05 RS Venture and love it . Give your self time to get used to it I rode mine 2000 KM before I was really used to it . That's when I started to like it .

Congrats on your TF purchase.
I wish they would be available in the states.
The mountian skis that I recently put on my RS Venture make a world of difference. The front of the sled stays up and floats really well.
This is normal for the electronics display panel not to display when it is extremely cold. Be patient until everything warms up. Seems that all the electricity is going to the engine functions. Once it is ready the display magically appears!
All the best!

mountain skis?
Hey Hondo, I have a new 06 RS Venture as well and have about 300 miles on it so far around Rockwood and West of Moosehead Lake. I just ordered Yamaha Mountain skis, although it already seems good in the fluff. But this being my first sled, I don't really know how to ride it well.
How do you carry extra gas on this thing? Got the saddle bags and trunk, but a gas can just doesn't fit.

Hi John,
This is one way of carrying extra gas.
In the photo is Tony, one of the guys that rode from Alaska to Maine last year. At this point Steve and Tony had ridden 9,700 miles.
I try to plan my fuel stops accordingly with a 1-2 gallon reserve.
However I have carried gas before. I took the back seat out.
You will like the mountain skis. It really lightens up the front end. I wish I had put them on 3 years ago.
Hope this helps!

Great choice! I think that's one of the best Yammies ever made to date. I had a '05.
I think the stock ski's work the best for this sled (the TF), since it has the 7" wide RS Viking ski's as standard (at least mine did). I think the mountain-ski's are a little too aggressive in crusty snow. The RS Viking ski's have a flat bottom, so it carries the front a little higher (dosen't sink as much in crusty snow). Just my observation...
The one thing I really missed on that sled was more storage-space when riding two-up. The motorcycle-rack is just silly???
It's a VERY capable deep-snow machine, and very versitile! I don't think you will be dissapointed...
