when i got my sled back from the dealer (in sault ste marie ontario) the mech told me tht the side cover on the frame is cracked. Thats the piece of cast aluminum behind the clutches..... it has a crack about a 1/4 inlong in it..... supposedly its there for structural integrity?????? anyone have this problem yet and does it ac matter if its fixed... it will not be coverd under warranty so its gonna cost me 1000.00 to fix.....
Should i just buy a new one or weld it myself and put it back on??????....

Is it the clutch side (left hand) that cracked? And if it is check to see if it broke near the motor mount or where all the hardware needs to be tight. The motor mounts will loosen up and Yamaha is aware of that! Mine came apart and ever damn fastening bolt (on both sides) were extremely loose. I went through and re-torque and loctited the threads on each bolt. If there is excessive movement on those aluminum plates they will crack. I would work on Yamaha to pay for that repair if it was me.
