Now that I have had some seat time on my new viper btx, it is quite apparent that I need some better carbide to stop the bad darting while trail riding. I have put dual runners on my rx1 and attack that helped tremendously. Looking at Royal Distributing, they don’t have the dual runners for the BTX mountain ski. They do however have the snow trackers for it. Are these good for stopping the darting issues. Choices are the extreme and semi extreme kit. How “extreme” is the extreme kit.
What other carbides would help with the darting of the btx

I had the BTX ski with the stock carbides on my stx dx 146 for 6000km before I sold it. I now have the same set up on my XTX for the pass 4000km.
Mt son in law has a btx viper with the stock skis and carbides for the pass 4000km. We don't have any darting problems at all.
You might went to try changing to shock setting first to see if it helps.

Yesterday we were the first ones on a freshly groomed trail from the night before so the trail was hard. If I went first it steered great but if one of the others went first and my skis picked up one of their ski tracks it would follow it if all day long if I eased up on my steering and let the sled go where it wanted. On trails that were used more the sled was all over the place and I was fighting it.
What would I have to do with the shocks to help the steering. Are you talking ski shocks or the front track shock.
My skis look like they are toed in quite a bit. It’s quite noticeable. Would this have any thing to do with it.

Toed in skis will dart like crazy, try 1/4" -3/8" toe out.Yesterday we were the first ones on a freshly groomed trail from the night before so the trail was hard. Good to know. I’ll have to get that fixed up right away. Thanks
Does any one have the procedure to do this. I don’t have a maintenance manual yet and it doesn’t say in my operators manual.
I know the basic procedure I just need to know where on the skis do I take the measurements from

The btx came with evol fox shocks. Set the front skis main shock of 65, rear skid main shock on 130 . Then if you still fine it darting put a little more air in the front skid shock. You can look up those shocks and it give you good info on what pressure to run.

I will check the shock pressure, but first I have to get the skis aligned right. I noticed the other day that when going in a straight line my handlebars are not straight. I will have to get them straight and then adjust my toe out.
But how do I get to inner tie rod jam nuts. I tried turning the handlebars all the way to the side and sliding the rubber boot back but I still can’t get at them

Take the rubber booth off by taking the pins out. Then turn the handlebars all the way to the side.I will check the shock pressure, but first I have to get the skis aligned right. Are the pins the same style as the push type pins that hold quad fenders and other plastics together on quads.
Just pull the center out and then the body?

So at what points on the skis in front of and behind of the spindle do I take the measurements. I watched a few videos and some take it at the very front and very back of the ski and others at the front bolt and back bolt of the carbides

I have never run a sled with the BTX ski and Snow Trackers, so I could be wrong. I have run Delta Body Vectors with the old Yamaha skis, and Pro Cross Viper XTX's and LTX on AC skis with the Snow Trackers, and now I am running an LTX Sidewinder with Tuner skis and Snow Trackers. I have never ridden a ski with Snow Trackers that darted, at least that darted enough for me to notice it. Every Snow Tracker I have ever run has steered easily, held the trail, and did not dart. If they make Snow Trackers for your ski, buy them and you will never dart again.

Finally had time to adjust the skis. Toed them out 1/4” and it made a world of difference. There’s still seems to be a bit of darting but way better than what it used to be. Now I will start playing around with the air pressures of the shocks
