This is my first post to this forum. I've been reading regularily over the past months and have learnt so much from everyone, so thanks to all for sharing your wisdom and experience.

After being out of the snowmobile game for a number of years, I'm about ready to buy a red Attak (Ontario). I'm wondering how much others paid (CDN dollars) for their machines, or how much off of retail they got? Should I be "negotiating" for extras, such as a cover, etc? I'd like to be prepaired when I take the plunge and put down my deposit.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the site KubotaOne,

As to your question in regards to pricing, there are a couple of things to consider.

Where are you buying your sled? It is always wise to support your local dealer if they have given you good service in the past or have a good reputation.

There isn't a huge mark up in snowmobiles, so to negotiate to get free stuff may not be the best choice, some good dealers will give you a good discount on merchandise you wish to purchase. Which generally turns out to be a fairly good incentive.

One of the local dealers around me has them for $12,800.00.

Just some FYI. Hope it helps.

thanks Snowaholic,

I agree with supporting local dealers and I plan on doing that. I'm located direclty between two Yamaha dealers, one in Barrie and the other in Orillia - I've never dealt with either of them though.

The Attak Canadian retail price is $14,200, so $12,800 is a fair amount off!

No problem,

A little more FYI, that price includes Freight & PDI, you would be charged a $35.00 licence fee though.

Good luck, welcome to the new Attack, you will love it, I did when I rode one. But just prefer the shorty's.

If you are shelling out roughly $13000 cdn for an ATTAK which is what I did. I believe you should buy where you ride. For the sake of a couple hundred bucks here or there, loyalty to your local dealer is worth it in the end. My dealer has always looked after me and I believe in supporting the guy who takes care of me and my toys-- the purchase is only the beginning--- after sales support is what makes you a customer rather than just a buyer. My 2 cents!

Can't wait for my BLUE ATTAK :yam: :ORC

FLYBOY,

I couldn't agree more with your comments. I plan on purhasing from the local dealer I feel most comfortable with, not on price alone.

I have been out of the snowmobile game for a long time, and I really justed wanted to have a general idea of what a fair price would be.

I've seen $12700 on an ER without a trade.
$12800 on an ATTAK as Snowaholic mentioned above seems a little too good to be true but good if you can get it.
Hopefully Yamaha pulls something out of the hat to compensate us for the $2000 difference between the US and Canada.

Just as a similar aside not that I can afford one of these babies, I was reading last night that the new Z06 Corvette lists for $89900 in Canada and $65800 US in the States. With exchange, its $10000 Can. cheaper in the US. It appears that not only Yamaha is putting it to us poor Canucks.
