I've been hearing of some installing carb coolant line shut off valves on the RX1. Where are you locating them and what are you using?. With this warmer weather, Ive been getting more low speed burble and I feel it could be attributed to the warm coolant. Always turned mine off on the Viper.

Any decent quality small dia. stainless steel or brass ball valve will work. The easiest place to locate it is in the line coming off the left top coolant return port out of the top of the engine. This small line is the supply line to the carb heater circuit. You can extend this small line and putt the valve in this circuit.

I just installed one on my Warrior in the location RX1Jim just described. I'm not sure what he means by extending the line, but I just cut out the appropriate length on line for the ball valve to fit in and was done with it in about 20 minutes. I haven't ridden since I installed it, but I am hoping to get rid of my hard start problem when the motor is hot.

I know that the subject has been beaten to death but I just wanted to chime in that this is an important mod. I bought the valve years ago when everyone here was talking about it and never got around to installing it. This year I started riding at higher elevations than previously and had an intermittent full throttle hesitation that had me stumped.
Went through all of our typical troubleshooting... spark, carb cleaning, jetting, etc. I was talking the problem through with fellow TYer Yakuza and he says something like "Is your carb heater shutoff closed?" Well dangit! I never installed it and had forgotten all about it. Went out yesterday with the line shutoff and it ran great!
My point is that it might be able to help people with problems other than warm start difficulties.

Installed coolant shut-off valve last year, it did not help the hard start issue when hot. Still need to give it some throttle to get it to start right away after it's warmed up, that's just the way it is I guess, I'm used to it now and have my routine, no problem. I only turn the carb heat on now if it's below -15 c. I just feel better knowing I can turn the carb heat off when it warms up a little, maybe a little better throttle response.

Want to install the coolant shut-off on my warrior. What size is the line? Sled is up north so can't exactly go out and look at it.

I used standard red/black fuel shut-off valves for the coolant lines. I believe inside diameter of lines are 1/4".

I have same issue. My yammy dealer told me once might need valve adjustment. I haven't done that yet so I cant say, just a suggestion.Installed coolant shut-off valve last year, it did not help the hard start issue when hot.
