Carb Synchronizing/ Filter kit question

I put an ECP air filter kit on my 03 RX-1 at the end of last year. I am very happy with the preformance 95% of the time. It seems like it fouls a plug out every once in a while and the performance declines. If I continue riding it for a while it seems to clear up and run like crazy again. On a 400 mile trip it may only act up for 20 miles or so then it is fine. I was wondering if carb synchronizing would help. I am not sure if temp change was effecting it or if something else could be wrong. The sled as a Hauck clutch kit, bender exhaust and a ECP filter kit with a evac system. I am running 165 mainjets with the silver Holtzman springs. Any ideas?

*The filter kit has increased my low end considerably.

check your pilot jets and clean them.You may have one clog up .Also check under the needle valve seat to make sure the screens are clean.

As my directions for the air kit states...synchronizing the carbs after the install is a must! I cannot believe how many people fail to do this!

Another thing you will want to check is for your sparkplug caps/stick coils arcing to the valve cover and cylinder head deep down in their pocket. If this is occurring, replacement of the stick coils will be necessary or if they aren't too bad, obtain some dielectric grease and apply it to the outside of the cap and reinstall.

You say to apply the dielectric grease to the outside of the caps. Do you mean the whole length of the caps with a thin film? Would this be a good idea even on a new sled to possibly prevent arcing?

Thanks for the ideas. Now that racing season is over (cars), I can get back to wrenching on the sled. I will synchronize them this week and let you know if it helps. Who makes the best synchronizing tool?

Freddie sells the MotionPro manometer. The procedure is pretty straightforward, and I did it to my brand new sled, that I went ahead and installed the kit. The carbs were off, and the throttle response improved after I did it.
