Going to be putting the skid from an '03 ZR900 SP into the RX1. The way I'm planning to do it is to put a string around t he drive axle of the Cat and level it. From the level line I'm going to take measurements for distance back, and up (from the center of the drive axle) for the mounting holes. If I transcribe these measurements to the RX, the skid will be mounted in the same relative positon as it was with the Cat. Any reason I don't want to do it this way?

I would check for clearence issues & approach angles before you start drilling in the tunnel. I got a buddy that made a mountain sled by putting a m-10 mountain skid in his 600 zr & his tunnel looks like swiss cheeze.
Yeah, I'm wondering about that too. If I have as much space (as the cat does) between the top of the mounting holes and the lowest part of the tunnel I should be ok though, and the attack angle will be whatever it is on the cat already, no?
