Is this normal to have some slop in the reverse chain?

Is it recommended to change the reverse chain? I have 15,000km on my sled and have changed the main chain and gears as it was stretched and ran out of adjustment with the chain tensioner back when I had 10,000km on the sled. I was just thinking about this and wondering if I should be changing the reverse chain as well.

IMO. No..... as long as reverse functioning properly..

Sounds good, I guess the chain is constantly turning but never under really any load.
Yea not much of a load on that. I think you would notice if the chain needs replacing. I can only say after 11500 miles on my 17 the reverse chain was fine. You got some good miles on yours also. If you plan to put double the miles you have now maybe buy that chain ? Depending on cost it might not be a bad thing to have on hand. I like having some parts on hand especially for sleds over 10k. But I would not replace it until you notice the reverse maybe acting slightly different.

As you see, that reverse chain becomes looser as mile accumulate. No set mileage on when or if to replace chain but just know it's loose and when you go into reverse, be easy on the throttle.

So you’re saying put the sled in reverse and punch it? To check chain tension ? :D
