Just finished pulling chaincase all apart, noticed bottom bearing (behind large gear) needed replacing. Pulled it out, sealed side faced gear - open side faced seal. I re-installed the same way, but I have some concern that the open side of the bearing should face the chaincase and be lubricated from the oil. Maybe that is why it failed, being that it might have been installed backwards. How is everybody finding theres installed??? #3 Bearing on the pic

LOL............NO YOU DID GOOD ;)!

I agree YOU WOULD THINK THAT...BUT

.....Yamaha does that on purpose to keep FILINGS and GRUD out ;)!

Keep going..........have fun, those are always fun to do ;)!

Yes you have Bounty!! Bounty and SRXTWINS saved my Manitoba trip from being a disaster. At just under 11,000 miles my 02 Viper puked the lower bearing. SRXTWINS being a top notch mechanic, installed the new bearings just as the factory recomended. Should be good for at least another 10,000.

Dave ;)!
