Went to install a 23 tooth top gear last week and realized I needed the 70 link chain. Ordered the chain and installing right now. I'm not sure if I put the cupped washer that goes against the top sprocket on the right way. Does the small (inside) part of the washer go against the sprocket, or the large (outside) part go against the sprocket.
Thanks,
Greg

This definitely is cupped. It could be because of the way the nut is rounded and tightens against the washer, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Get your old gear out, and there should be a line made my the rubbing of the washer on the gear. If the washer is pointing towards you, the line will be bigger and if smaller, the washer will be pointing into your chaincase

I know what you're saying, but I had removed it last week and then put it back together and rode the sled, so if I put it in backward last time it would be scored on both sides now. I'm pretty sure the outside of the washer rests against the sprocket and the inside goes against the nut, but I guess I'll check with a dealer today to make sure.
