I am new to sleds. Could you guys explain the clutch set ups for me. Helix, heavy hitter, secondary, heel clickers? What the hell does this all mean?

03 RX1 shorty BLACK, simmons, 1.9, 12mm and links, xl windshield, side accents, trunk bag.

I've been reading the post for months now. I just don't understand what is written. I'm not an idiot, just unfamiliar with the terms, applications, and purpose.

I have what may seem to most a dumb question. From what I understand, the primary spring is to counteract the force of the weights. Therefore the heavier the weights, the heavier the spring needs to be.

What is the difference between using lighter weights and lighter spring vs. heavier weights and heavier spring? Is there an advantage of heavy vs light weights?

Or do you get the RPMs where you want them with weights then adjust the spring accordingly?

I am like you JUST LEARNING but from what ive learned so far.. the spring keeps the primary clutch open and adding weight forces the sheives of the primary clutch close sooner.. and depending on where you add the weight you can make it work with the power band of the engine.. The weighs on the primary control the squeez of the belt but on the secondary the spring controls the squeeze of the belt along with the amount of twist you give it...

Too much belt sqeeze causes a loss of power to the track and not enought causes the belt to slip and clutchs to get HOT..

Its very complicated but this is my take on it all... I COULD BE WRONG!!
