Thinking of heading North this weekend, curious to the trail conditions after the warm spell for the last week and a half. OFSC trail map shows green but that don't mean the trails are groomed and in good shape. Just looking for any info from anyone who may live and ride in the area.
Thanks
Thanks

If you don't already subscribe, watch the Polar Bear facebook page from Cochrane. They regularly show pics and have posts what they are up to. Based on what I am seeing there is good riding to be had there.

I am heading that way this weekend from toronto. I hope I hit snow before Cochrane. I checked, and except for a fuel shortage the trails up there are great. Sudbury and north bay got 20 cm so if it is open I will shorten my drive.

I am there now and conditions are great. Did the canyon yesterday. They had run out of gas but had a delivery so no problem.I am heading that way this weekend from toronto. I just got back on Sunday from Cochrane. Ran into a guy from Sudbury. He said they really don't have that much snow. Sure this snowfall will help but sounds like it may still need more.
The 'snowline' really starts at Kirkland Lake. There is sketchy snow through Huntsville, NorthBay, and New Liskeard - but at Kirkland there is a good base.
Day 1 - We rode to Hearst and back - 600km. Overall great trails. The A trail from Smooth Rock coming home to Cochrane was pretty beat up due to traffic.
Day2 - We chose to avoid the Canyon due to traffic and went south to Timmins and looped back to Iroquois Falls. Trails were also good. Timmins didn't have as much snow. Watch riding close to the mine sites in Timmins, some big rocks poking through and on the trail. Once you leave Timmins trails and snow get better again.
In winters like this clubs have a real problem keeping ahead of trail conditions. The polar bear guys could use 2 more groomers. They are doing their best but 2 machines can only do so much with a vast network.

I rode in sudbury from Thursday to this past Sunday and some trails where fantastic and some where really Rocky. Best to stay to the north. Trail to shining tree was really good. 20cm of snow would have made a big difference as the base was solid ice.
