I have a question.
I hear complaints about the shitty hand warmers, and solutions. Probably, the fastest, easiest, cheapest fix is never mentioned. I read about foaming (which I am going to try), using 06 bars with 07 harness, hand gaurds, gauntlets, and higher windshields.
Except for me mentioning it, I haven't seen anyone else doing so. Please tell me why I am the only rider I know that has warm hands by wearing mittens.

It must be a "man" thing.............mittens look gay! LOL!
I too thought about wearing mittens.......but did the 07 harness to 06 bar modification instead.

Foaming of the bars has already been posted several times last year with pictures and instructions without much success. The 06 bars with the 07 harness has been the preferred method the resolve hand warmer situation. Click on the link below for info on the hand warmer issue.

I think the term is, not being secure in your masculinity.
Just show you how secure I am, I have a picture taken in the Keewanaw of me standing next to the sign to Gay, Mich.. The arrow is pointing at me, and the sign says GAY.

I would use gauntlets before using mittens. I ride with 2 fingers on the brake,(LOTSA years riding bikes) and tried mittens and hated them. If they work for you, good on ya'. I just could NOT get used to using my 4 fingers on the brake.

They're your hands & fingers, you do what you think works best. I carry mittens just in case. They keep my tools from rattling around in the trunk.

LOL! Good one Apex Yooper! I stand corrected!
Have a great season............this is the most snow we've had in the lower N.E. Peninsula in about 15 years. Should help take some of the heat off the U.P.
We'll be in your neck of the woods next month.

This might be obvious to some but I moved the handguards further downward; even with the stock RTX windshield my hands stayed warm this weekend. I was ridding in single digit to minus zero temps in the western up. Hopefully this will be easy fix for someone.

That is how I ride as well, and mittens do not work very well for that I haven't had much issue with my 07 bars and 07 harness though either.

During one of my first ever rides, the temp hit -30 Celsius, I was using my old gloves and they weren't cutting it and my fingers nearly froze. A friend of mine lent me a pair of his mittens that he uses while working in the Arctic. The first long straightaway I pinned it and when I came to the first corner, I couldn't grab the brake easily, as I regularly use a couple of fingers on the brake. Needless to say, I didn't make the corner and jumped off my sled one way and landed and rolled over to one side of a tree and my sled veered off to the other side of the tree. I was very lucky I didn't smash myself up or the sled. I tried to still use the mitts, but I could never get comfortable with them and gave them back and suffered a bit while using my gloves the rest of the day.

It seems like it wouldn't be so hard to change a habit like using 4 fingers on the brake instead of 2. I see people every time I ride that have their brake hand in the air, holding up fingers, and sometimes they are coming round a corner. Now that's scary.
Seriously, I've ridden with gloves and mittens, depending on the temperatures and have no trouble braking. With these lousy warmers and my arthritis, my choice is mittens.

Does Foarming the bars work for SURE? Can you link me to the install process?
My ATTAK is new only 200 miles. I haven't rode it far this year..Last year it was warm out when I rode most of the miles.
The other nite it was cold and I went for an hour ride. It took a while for the warmers to get hot but they did.. It's stock.
I'll have to see how this season goes. I'll take aa pair of good mittens in case as backup.
Good to know the 06 bars will do the trick.

I always ride with my index finger resting on the brake lever and the other 3 gripping the bar.
I find this is the only way to simultaneously be able to handle big bumps, ruts and high speed riding while also able to slow down any instant I need to.
I also adjust my brake lever so it is a little closer and better within reach.
No mits for me when riding aggressively, but I do carry a pair of gauntlets for riding in extreme cold (-40C or colder) and a pair of mits for potential emergencies (being stuck in the woods overnight or something).
