CR10EK plugs & reduced MPG???

I just studded my sled last week & put in the new plugs. The dealer said my track was set a little tighter as he said it would stretch a bit more with studs added (has 750 miles/1240km on it prior to studding). I rode with another brand new attak (also an 07) all weekend & he consistently got better mileage. Also my top speed seemed to be down. Have you guys been seeing reduced mpg with these plugs (about 2mpg less this weekend than before)? Any feedback would be appreciated. I am thinking of putting the old plugs back in.

all the weight of the studs is what's slowing you down that's alot of extra rotaing weight your throwing around.Studs will slightly reduce your gas milage very minimal.

Rotational weight! Same thing as putting oversized tires on your truck!!! Enemy of gas milage..

highly doubt plugs would change fuel economy...

did you compare your mileage to buddies sled prior to this?...does he have studs too?

you cannot compare MPG from one weekend to the next,as temp,snow,trails,riding speeds all vary....the only way to check mileage is to ride with a buddy and see how much you put into tank each fillup....but if you didnt ride with your bud prior to your studs/plugs you cannot compare now..he might just get abit better mileage then you.Not all sleds are same.

another thing....I usually put more gas in my sled then buddy with same sled...but Im always leading the gang,and ride harder then him....the way you RIDE is your biggest factor IMO when it comes to mileage....if you are on throttle alot you will reduce your MPG alot.

He just got his sled. 0 km on it to start the weekend. He has 108 studs down the middle vs my 162. If anything he runs it harder than I do. It wasn't a huge difference & it seems as if there is room on top of this tank. I find you fill it up part way up the neck & let it sit & then there seems to be more room to add fuel anyways. As I said in one of my posts the dealer had tightened my track a little extra due to me adding studs & he felt it would loosen more (1250km before studs added), so if the track is a little tight it would effect mpg & top end would it not. Friction has to effect things.

blackattak, i also noticed my mpg went way down last year i got between 15&16 mpg no matter how hard i ride.this year i put 162 studs down the middle and the crek plugs and an clutch kit so i dont know witch one would drop my mpg.
