was hearing a little exhaust leak after the last ride and thought it was a muffler gasket. well after changing them it was still there. after a lot of work and some thrashing I finally got the header pipes out---the right one is cracked almost all the way around, the solid ones not the flex ones. anyone else crack one of these pipes? are these pipes titanium? is it weldable with a wire feed or is special wire or gas needed? Do I dare ask how much these are?

I believe they are stainless steel and not titanium. The titanium bellows (flexible section) would cost a fortune. I would suggest the crack be TIG welded. It will be a bit tricky since the wall is thin. Bring it to an experienced TIG welder.

First one of these I have heard of. Has the sled been babied or does it get a good thrashin'? How may miles? What model year is it?

Titanium is pretty easy to weld with a tig welder(I used to work in a machine, welding shop for connie kalitta)trouble is you wont find many welding shops with titanium rod.

Its probaply stainless though as stated earlier. If you cant find a shop locally you can send it to me.Ive got a tig welder and stainless rod.

What year is yours? I' ve got everything for an 03 except the muffler if you need some parts, Ken.

Only the '05s have the titanium head pipes. The '03 and '04 have stainless steel. ;)!

I took the pipe to my dealer and they got yamaha to pay for the part. I just have to put it in
