Hi, I'm looking to throw in a 2" - 2.25" challenger finger track in my XTX. From what I found I'd have to change the track drive rotors for the track. Is that all I have to do to put one of these in? If I get a smaller drive rotor for the track I realize I might lose some top end but I'm ok with that.

what are my options?

track.

Just for curiousity, where are you trying to take your sled that you can't go with the stock track?

The XTX stock track is terrible in deep powder. 2 weeks ago I was riding on the border north of rangeley and it trenches almost as bad as a firecat. On January 5th I'm taking mine to my dealer (Woodies) to get the 1.75" Backcountry track put on. I had the same track on my 06 Rev and it was night and day difference in deep snow compared to the ripsaw. The ripsaw has "teeth" that are good for biting into hardpack trails. For powder and deep snow you want "paddles". You want to scoop the snow, not cut into it like a chainsaw.

I hardly ever ride trails so the back country track is the best path. Coupled with SlyDog Powder Hounds there's not much more I could ask for.... except a turbo. :tg:

You will need to change drivers like you said, so track pitch isn't really an issue. Since you'll be putting extros on (they are neccessary for anything north of a 1.325" track in my opinion), you can choose whatever pitch drivers you want, therefore, you can use any pitch track you want. As for lug height, to go with 1.75" and bigger, you need to remove the tunnel protectors which are aluminum and riveted on the Yami's. It's a pain, but with a grinder and a steady hand, it's not too bad. After that, you need to determine what lug-height track you are going to settle on and then purchase drivers that will allow that. With stock diameter drivers, 1.75" is about as big as you can go (with the tunnel protectors removed of course), past that, you will need to get a driver that is smaller in diameter to give you more clearance from the front tunnel cooler. There's a ton of info on here concerning track swaps for the XTX (because the stock Ripsaw is so crappy in deep snow)... just search around! good luck!

2" track will clear with stock 9 tooth drivers no problem ;)! I can fit my fingers between the front heat exchanger and the lugs. 2 1/4" would be iffy, without smaller drivers.
If you go with 9 tooths extroverts on the XTX, you will need to shorten the front of the rails approx 5/16- 3/8" to clear the teeth on the extroverts. Not a bad job to do while the skid is out.

??

question answered!
it def digs trenches....but it drove me through any drifts i could find!
thought the trenches was the machines abundant torque and my over use of the throttle!

Awesome info!

Thanks everyone! the ripsaw is a great trail track and I'm really impressed on what it did get me through so far. I ride in iowa primarily but the only time I really ride is when the ditches are full of fresh snow. I'm getting ready to move out to coloado springs for work and I'd like to get this thing set up how I like.

Perviously I had an RMK with a 2" lug, that sled completely catered to my riding style (minus the fact I broke nearly every part on it from riding hard!) This one has held up remarkably to what its been through already.

By the way, should I just drop in 8 tooth extroverts when I wana use the Deep lug track or is there a chart I need to consult on this one? :drink:

thanks again all! ;)!

No, i used a 2" track and 19-40 gearing last season workt great.

so i have a question. if i wanted to switch to a 146" cobra track would the only thing i would need to do is just change the drivers? or does the skid have to be mounted back just a little farther?
