About to rain here and wondering two things: Do you wash your cover or how to clean it?

Also: what to do when rain is approaching? My cover is the style where there's a cotton cover and then the nylon (or whatever) main cover. Just seems to me that if it gets really wet that things might mold. The main cover also has a stretchy area over the windshield to allow for different heights, so that's another type of fabric.

Thanks!

I have washed my covers three times. in a front loading machine ( do not use a standard top load machine a the agitator can tear up the tarp. Hang to dry. I beleive I have the same cover for the nytro.

Be careful with just a cover on it for rain. My friend did that many years ago and it puddled up between the bars and the windshield, then dripped and found its way into the air box. It was only a Cat, but still.....

When I washed my covers they always lose some of the color in them. They look stonwashed when done, but wisconsin insists on using 1,000,000 tons of salt per 1 inch of snow.

I washed my cover for my XLT a few years ago and I found it shrunk some.

The next time I washed it I made sure I put it on the sled and stretched it out over all corners etc then after a day or 2 I removed it to make sure it and my sled were completely dry.

Not sure if the Yamaha one's will shrink or not but just a heads up in case they do?

put in th a front load washer. then hang to dry. once it's dry I put it the sled to stretch it back for a few days.

I have always washed my covers while they were on the sled. I just use a soft bristle brush (car wash brush) and car wash soap. When I am done with the cover, I take it off and wash the sled and let both dry before putting it back on. Never had any problems doing it this way and the cover doesnt fade as quickly as machine washing for some reason. Just my 2 cents.

I also always wash my cover on the sled, i just use the powerwasher and it works well, I dont get too close to the tarp but withing a foot does a good job taking out the salt, i let it dry on the sled, then wash the sled once its dry and i can take the cover off.

I wash my sled covers in a commercial front loading machine at the local laundremat. I wash them at the end of the season to get all the crud off of them them I let them hang to dry.

When you wash your cover take off the straps with the hooks beforehand. I just hand wash mine in a small bucket and let drip dry.
