I bent my bars last year, they were 35 dollars at the dealer. I reused the grips. Drill out the rivit and heat the grip up with a heat gun until fairly hot! The glue will loosen and the grips come off with out damage. It takes a little finess. 35 bucks and a couple hours.

look at the grip closly and you will see a rivit somewhere near the end. That rivit locks it in place, although the glue is quite good. You need to drill the center out of the rivit so it can slide off after you heat the glue loose other wise the rivit is still holding it to the bars

The grips will be fine. When you install your grips on your new bars, put a little glue at the end of the bars where grips go, and once the grips are in position you install a new rivit and your finished. make sure you put the grips back on in the same position they came off! The wire has to be in the same location to clear the throttle and the brake levers.
