For you guys extending an existing fx shorty, here are CR RACING's drop down brackets to raise the backend of the sled up abit. And a few other pics of the semi finished sled.

Anyone else ever do this with a Shorty?
I'm in the process of stretching my 08 RTX to 144", adding extroverts and a Back Country.
I like to ride in the hills and mostly off trail when I can.
Is there any benifit of adding drop brackets? What should it help and what other problems will it introduce?

Lowering the rear, without other suspension tuning, like lowering the front of the skid a corresponding amount, is going to really hurt trail handling. This move removes a lot of weight from the front of the skid - and the weight the front of the skid WAS carrying - is now being carried by the skis and rear of the skid....
Flotation has been affected, transfer is all but eliminated, and you get a really heavy front end as a bonus. Unloaded rear sag will also be a big (bigger?) factor.
