Extravert Driver Installation

The only reason to run an 8t. driver is for tall paddle clearence. They are less efficient as the track must turn a tighter radius to come around them.

The 9 t. is the one to run, and yes the tips must be clearenced some to clear the front suspension cross shaft. More if you are running an M10 with its bigger diameter front shaft.

I read somewhere that the 9t drivers will not fit in the mountain. Not enought clearance. Is this true?

I have the very drivers on my Rx-1M. I stayed with 8 tooth because I'm using a 2 1/4" finger track. I have 1.5" of sag right now (hanging below the hifax) and I have no issues like ballooning yet. I can spin the track relatively easy with my hands now. Is the sled faster? Hum? You should have more power to the ground so it should be. Best of luck. PB

i would stick with the 8 tooth, you will have no issues at all and the only reason yamaha run the 8 tooth is to gear it down, if you put on 9 t you will have to find gearing and from what i was told you cant get enough gearing with the 9 tooth, also the 9 tooth drivers are very tough to intall the skid after, my adjusters are backked off all the way, and my track is borderline to tight, i am running a 1 1/4, so i can get away with steeper gearing

Drivers and Gearing

A stock RX-1 is a modestly powerful engine with less than 90ft/lbs of torque at maximum power. The 9 tooth driver is 12.5% larger . In other words it is 12.5% harder to turn , or taller geared. With a rolled chaincase and a 300hp turbo. My world is a much lowwer dollar world than that so for now I gear my 19/43 and have made my own set of 7 tooth extrovert drivers. This puts the gear ratio at 2.58:1 if I were using 8 tooth drivers.Top speed is 75mph at a 1:1 clutch ratio, but that is okay because I don't ride on trails or lake race with a mountain sled. I very seldom ride at 75mph and top speed is of little importance to me. All I want is maximum hillclimb speed in fresh snow, and some days I can see 100kph or 62mph. Yes it is more difficult to turn the track around a smaller wheel, but it is like a cheap chaincase roll which frees up power, and my 7 tooth is 28.5% smaller or 28.5% more torque mutiplication.
