Extrovert sprockets on an 07 RTX - will they fit?

I think this would be the ultimate solution to allow long hyfax life and completely eliminate ratcheting. The sprockets I'm looking at are Skidoo part #504152503 (9 tooth - same as stock).

Compared to the monoshock skid, the ProActive rails stick forward by another couple of inches. Taking some very rough measurements it looks like the sprockets are going to be extremely close to the rail tips.

Will the lugs on the sprockets hit the slide rail tips?

Do the rails have to be shortened?

I've got an '06 Nytro with the same skid as your '07 RTX ... the ProActive CK.

I installed the 9 tooth Doo extro drivers, and everything clears just fine. I've got about 700 miles on my setup now and it works great. The track hangs almost 2" from the rails, and I never get any ratcheting.

I'm not sure if the Apex is that much different for this setup than the Nytro, but I hope that helps ya.

I have an 05 vector with the skidoo 9t drivers as well and the open window track. I have about 1900 miles on this setup and i havent ratcheted once and my slides have had barely any wear. Yamaha sleds should all come with anti ratchet drivers!

That's great news. The Nytro runs the same rails (8ES-W4741-00-00) so the distance between the rail tips and the wheels must be virtually identical (since the rear axle must be located the same distance back to keep the track tight).

Did you notice any negative side effects like track noise, reduced fuel economy or top speed?

I did some more measuring and the drivers will definitely be close to the rail tips. Have you checked to see if there are any marks at all at the end of your rails?

I think this is overall the best solution. I don't want to compromise and everything else I've come up with is a compromise:

- reducing the weight transfer all the way will hurt acceleration and still requires the track pretty tight.
- running the track super tight all the time will increase the hyfax wear (as I found out) and probably reduce the life of the track and other components (bearings, upper and rear axle wheels, etc.).
- running the track super tight when playing around or riding aggressively and then running it loose when on long (2500-5000 mile) saddlebag trips would be annoying (and I'll probably end up with worn drivers or something).
- installing an extra pair of very small idlers at the rail bend will require extra maintenance and might weaken the rails.
- running extroverts with the track at a reasonable tightness (35mm@22lbs or a little looser) seems like the best overall option and I can tune the suspension any way I like and hopefully get 5000+ miles out of a pair of hyfax.

I priced the drivers today at my local Skidoo dealer and they sell for $67 Cdn each so its not a big dollar upgrade either.

I have taken a look at my drivers to make sure everything was running OK. There are no mark on the driver tips, or any marks on the rail tips. So everything must clear just fine.

I don't know if I can really speak about excess noise, vibration or reduced gas mileage ..... when I put in the extro drivers, I longtracked it to a 136" with a 1.5" lug. So any extra noise, vibration or reduced gas mileage could be a result of the track I installed.

I didn't notice you long tracked it...

Did you keep the stock suspension and just add rail extensions (I'm hoping)?

yep - stock suspension with rail extensions from Tracks USA

REX both myself and my buddy with the gt ran those drivers, only i ran wahl brothers in mine, but i had to clip my track, and i had problems with clips coming off,and we got him the preditor predrilled and completely clipped track in 1" and his was awsome, good hook up,better top speed, and he never lost one clip.

Will these drivers fit on an 06 rtx? I'm seriously considering stretching out my track. If i do this i want to run a fully clipped track. Dose any one know the part # and the pitch.

Yes they fit on all monoshock sleds. My concern was with the slightly longer rails that the ProActive uses.

The part number is in my post above.

This thread has a lot more information on the drivers:

I e-mailed Bruce at TracksUSA.com and for he says you might have to trim 3/16" off the tips of the sprockets to make them fit because of some cross shaft Yamaha uses inside the tunnel.

Did any of you have to machine the tips on your drivers?

When I put the drivers on last week I checked carefully for contact and discovered that if you compress just the front of the suspension to just the right amount the rubber rail tips just touch the tips of the extrovert drivers.

The worst case contact is close to 1mm and when I turn the clutch by hand the extrovert cogs slip by the rail tips after bumping them.

Although this likely won't lead to catastrophic failure right away it will likely help to loosen off the already prone to loosening off rail tips.

I'm going to trim away a couple of mm from the rubber rail tips to make sure it doesn't rub.

It would probably be worthwhile checking yours out.

Other than that, the Skidoo extrovert/combination drivers work flawlessly. I can run the track much looser without any ratcheting at all and there are no new noises nor vibrations. Also the hyfax wear pattern is now as expected between the rear axle and the rearmost pair of idlers. The curve area doesn't seem to be wearing at all yet (50 miles).
