The EXUP exhaust looks like it uses a different flex pipe to Y-pipe joint with a metal channel over the top. Maybe we can use the design to help us solve the never ending donut replacement issue, just a thought

if you modify your clamps on your donut you will only have to do it once. once you increase the clamping pressure they don't move and they don't wear.

keep dreaming woolyviper. i have modified my clamps for more pressure and its the same nonsense. third set of donuts at 7000 miles, 2 y pipes and one flex pipe.

LOL I agree I am on my second set this year! Mod clamps and all since the first set. 10,760 miles on the sled but only 2,000 miles on this set. I think these failed prematurely because the rivets on the y-pipe support bracket wore through the tunnel, leaving the back of the y-pipes unsupported. I read a post of someone who was going to try leaving these bolts out to see if the donuts would last longer, my unscientific test says NO! On a more positive note I can now replace donuts in about an hour

i put hauck pipes on my attak and left them unbolted on the hauck Y pipes so they would have movement instead of being bolted tight...haven't had a problem for 2,500 miles..and they look like new yet!

I plan to get the stainless ones when mine fail but do we still have donut issues with the stainless Y pipes??? Or is that solved too??

my titanium y-pipes were both cracked at the 4000 miles, i replaced them with steel bender racing pipes at 399 us dollars. it was the cheapest alternative at that time . dealer wanted 700 cdn (each) for the titanium ones. nothing has changed on the donut wear. Around the 3000 miles area is when i notice an exhaust leak, when one fails i replace all four. donuts cost a little over 20 dollars cdn each, flex pipe is 133 dollars cdn.
Im eventually buying an apex xtx, but im keeping my 06 attak as a second sled. i do hope they have solved the exhaust issue. it s an expensive and time consuming problem.

So even with the stainless Y pipes we will still have the donut problem?? I thought there were only 2 donuts?? I remember changing them on my RX when I put on the turbo and I thought it only had 2, maybe it did and the apex has 4???

Shanks, what kind of longevity did you get out of the RX1. My daughter has 4600 mi. No prob yet.

My 05 RX1 does the same thing, first set around 5,000 miles. The 03 RX1's with stainless seem to go a little longer
