What is the deal with the covers? For the life of me I can't get the damn cover onto the sled. This morning was the first time that I wanted to use it so I open the never opened box and try to get it on. I get the front on and am working my way back thinking that the cover must have been designed by someone that used to work for Trojan since it was so tight. I get past the cowling and this is not going well at all. Anyway since its my first Yammi & my first attempt at the cover I am giving it every opportunity and taking my time. I get to the back end and while it sort of fits it is nowhere near correct. The sides don't really come down far enough, the mirrors are bent in, the back end doesn't really go down far enough and there are no straps to go from one side to the other through the skid to tighten it down. I check the tag on the cover against the box and they are okay and the number it correct on the website but it just won't fit. It almost fits but noit quite. Anyone else have these kind of issues? Oh yeah its an 08 RS Venture GT.

I don't know what to tell ya, I just got my factory cover this week and it fits like a glove. I had to put the hooks on the straps though, the loaner the dealer gave me had plastic clips which I liked better. Overall I am happy with my cover, although I may change the hooks for clips...

My cover fits great even has exrta room in the back of it incase I put a rack on it...You must have one for another sled ........

Yamaha makes two covers for the RS Venture; one to fit the optional rear rack, one for sleds without the rack.

The one on my Apex doesn't fit great either. I have to really stretch it to get it to fit over the rear. It does fit but it just don't seem right. I,ve checked the numbers and I also have the correct one

I find using a baggie, plastic grocery bag or ziplock on the hand grips helps to position the cover. Still not sure why they don't have "socks" for them (where you know where the bar is supposed to fit), like they do on jetskis, though.

sean,
FIRST Put the cover over the ends of the handle bars, SECOND, pull it down over the front bumper, and LAST pull it back over the rear end.
It will still be as tight as a trojan but unlike a condom, you must start in the middle.

My cover was the sameway.I had to get a deluxe cover made out of a different fabric which has a soft cloth liner inside. It fits better but I still have to pull in the mirrors because mine has the mega windshield.
And I still got to install it like SNOWAY does.

Went to the dealer today & tried one on a Venture in the showroom. It sort of fits but still not right. We got another one - same part number - and it fit just fine. Poor quality control on that cover I guess. I don't like the straps that go with it though. The cover is very nice overall but to have to use those cheesy straps & hook them wherever in the skid isn't great in my books. I am surprised that Yamaha wouldn't have a better system for securing the cover. Oh well, I don't use it often as I usually only trailer a couple of km.

I had a little misadventure with my cover. I had trailered my sled on an open trailer in some pretty sloppy conditions and got the cover pretty dirty. I tried hosing it off, but couldn't get it 100% clean. So - idea: Let's throw it in the washer! Threw it in with a good dose of laundry detergent, washed it (the washer was not making happy sounds during this event) and let it air-dry. Result? Some of the dirt washed away, the rest dispersed itself throughout the rest of the cover, including the previously pristine interior, which meant that applying the cover onto my sled and trailering it around in the wind would have been akin to taking a steel wool pad to my black Venture GT. Not good. As a bonus, the detergent from the machine washing had partially removed the wax-like substance impregnated in the cover, leaving a very nice whitish tiger-striping effect on the cover. Undeterred, I took it to a coin operated car wash and blasted the dirt out of it, so it was now abrasive-free and usable. I let 'er dry again. Then, I put it on the sled. Guess what? It shrank.

Usually I'm not such a bonehead, but I do have my moments...
