Taking to the cleaners
smitdog55:
Perhaps "Taking to the cleaners" is a bit of bravado from an old man who man with too much pride. But up to 8000 rpm it was the Vector all the way. I let off at 8000 rpm as I have decided to break in by the book. The speed was in the mid 70s. After break in and oil change at 500 miles I will become less conservative and report back. That may not be for a while....
Isn't this site great...all the high spirited competition and excellent technical info...can' be beat.

What are you getting for fuel mileage? I'm comparing to Apex I'm trying to see what I'm going to pick up next, Apex, Vector or Nytro and fuel mileage is a factor for me. I think I'd miss the apex power and sound. But yea hows the mileage like how many km's can you go on a tank of gas and how much does it cost to fill? Thanks!

If you're worried about mileage on a tank then the Nytro isn't for you. That has the smallest tank so your total number of miles will be way down compared to either the Apex or the Vector.

I am very interested in the Vector Ltx if it is that quick to 80MPH. I find the top speed not very usefull anymore and a used Vector can be had for much cheaper than an Apex around my neck of the woods. It seems they get better gas mileage as well. I have read the handling also feels lighter than the Apex. Is that correct? What is the weight difference between the Apex and Vector?

I the last issue of American Snowmobiler they had their annual shoot out. The Vector LTX had 660 foot elapse time 7.721 seconds with a speed of 83.03 mph. Now I know this test was run on dirt and not snow, but is relevant because of the other sleds tested were done the same. How does this compare to testing on snow, not sure. I do know that the Vector was the hot sled in its class last year as well. As a reference the Apex at the 660 foot mark was 86.87 with an elapse time of 7.434 seconds.
