I am taking a stock Attack out to the Big Horn Mtn's. in January. Dealer mentioned that I should have the rivets taken off of the clutch before we leave. Has anyone heard of this? He said they do this on the RX'-1's as well. We will be riding between 7000 and 9000 feet.
Outside of throwing a set of Simmon's ski's on this was all I was planning on doing, until I heard about removing the rivets on on the clutch.

There is a short piece on this subject in the latest Snowtech magazine. Jan/Feb issue. They say you will need lighter flyweights, lower gearing and shorter chain.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the lower gearing and shorter chain. You should, however, remove the clutch rivets. If you lived out there and rode at 9,000+ elevations all the time, then I would change the gearing and chain. Changing the gearing and chain is expensive and time consuming. Conversely, removing the clutch weights is inexpensive and fairly simple.

I went up to 10,200 ft with my Apex around Togwotee in October the sled had no adjustments made what so ever and it ran fine, unless your going to climb Snow King i would not even worry about it.
If you want to dial it in,and really get it spot on stop in Cheyenne at Codys Yamaha and have it done there, they got all the right parts and have done my Vipers and SX for little or no charge for years.
Happy Trails you are in for a trip of your lifetime.
Good Luck!

Crank up the spring tension inthe secondary and run it! These 4-strokes are so forgiving it will make very little difference. I took my 04 warrior to 12,000 ft with NO changes done and goto by fine. It wont be spot on, but thats the nice part... It dont need to be
