2009 Yamaha FX Nytro RTX SE
be sure to check the front subframe, known issue of bending and buckling. If shocks are not centered between the A-Arms then it's bent.

It looks clean. I had an 09 RTX that I stretched to 144”. What kind of riding do you do? And what AC sleds have you ridden in the past? I fell in love with my RTX’s power/torque, and power delivery (after I clutched the sled). I hated the handling of my nytro. I came off of an 03 F7 and the handling on the F7 was far better than the Nytro. I had the stock shocks revalved, I changed the skis, and I swapped carbides but the sled still wouldn’t keep up to the 2 strokes in the tight wooded trail sections. If I bought another Nytro (I have a viper now) I would get an xtx, I would get an A-arm kit from the aftermarket that changes the geometry of the front end, and a steering relocate kit (at a minimum). Other mods would be clutching, skis, and properly valved shocks. If I was you I’d wait and watch for a Nytro that’s already had most of the ‘problem areas’ fixed already. Personally I think this gentleman is asking too much $$ for a 10 year old sled with no mods. I’d look for something like this:

Same price, a few more miles but this sled has a lot of very tasteful mods already that will make it handle much better than a stock sled.

Or this one.

Nytro are nice sleds but their handling leaves a lot to be desired if they don’t have some attention from the aftermarket world. Happy shopping!

I ride pretty hard. Mostly groomed trail but do some trail breaking as well. More of a corner to corner guy. I ride VAST mainly and it gets pretty rough up there more often than not. I had a 97 ZR 600 and then an 06 F7. I was going to offer him 4k cash. Still think that's too much? I was also looking at that ad from hudson valley. Maybe I will shoot him a message.

If you do any trail breaking at all you’re going to want the longer track. The Nytro with a 121” is good on groomers but if you go off the beaten trail you turn into a submarine real quick with a 121”.
Even at 4K cash, coming off an F7 I think you will be disappointed in the handling. I’d try for a 144”, revalve shocks, steering relocate kit, clutching, and put pilot 6.9’s on the sled. That’s as close to perfect as you’ll get it. If you look through the numerous threads on TY for Nytro handling you can get an xtx close to an F7 in the handling department. The power and torque of the 4 stroke should leave you with a permanent smile.

If your use to the handling of a ZR!! or F7 you most definitely will be disappointed. You might look for a used Viper you get the Nytro engine in a Cat with Yamaha clutches etc.

Here is one in NY https://nh.craigslist.org/snd/d/2015-yamaha-sr-viper-srviper/6741983145.html QUOTE]

That’s a good deal! I’ve never seen one that cheap, 6,400 miles isn’t bad on the procross chassis, especially if it’s been maintained well.

Pete is correct, even if you find a nice Nytro, the Nytro will never handle as well as a Viper. They’re in two different leagbues.

Pete is correct, even if you find a nice Nytro, the Nytro will never handle as well as a Viper. It doesn’t matter how many mods you do to it. They’re in two different leagues as far as suspension and handling is concerned.

I appreciate all this advice guys thank you. I failed to mention I also used to ride a 92 wildcat as well which was heavier than hell. I offered the guy 4k but he was firm on his price. Gonna keep looking around but I am pretty set on a Nytro. Im confident I can get used to it. I am in contact with the owner of the 09 XTX Snowfever posted. We will see what happens. Again, thank you guys.

No problem! Part of me wishes I had been more patient with my Nytro. But my Yamacat is a sweet machine. I got it for a rediculous price brand new. Keep looking, I think you’ll be able to find a nice xtx for a very reasonable price. And if you like it you can do a few tasteful mods every year. That’s what I’m doing to my Viper.

I just PM’d you about riding in VT.
