What is the difference between the front shocks for a MTX V's the fronts fort a shorty Nytro? Thanks

That depends on which year mtx, and which year other nytro.
For example my 08 rtx had fox floats standard, while the 08 mtx had something totally different. Something that was really, really bad.

Looking more for dimensions. Just wondering if the shocks are interchangeable.
