I just noticed both the front limit straps are broke, right where the bolt goes thru.
Then I noticed the rear shock, looks like the straps that go along side the shock are bowed out in the middle.
Could the front traveled down enough to allow the rear shock to over center or something? the frt mount look like it could swing up or down??

sounds like you took a really nice landing on the back end of the skid or a good hit to the rear suspension somehow...

now MT, I keep telling my wife we ride slow and with caution, I wouldnt think off trying to get air with such a heavy four stroke LOL
(dont look at the picture that had drinking involved)

Do you think I could remove and straighten the shock pieces? they maybe bowed a 1" to a 1-1/2"
they are almost like flat iron, I could stick them in the press and make em look like new, but will they rebend or was that because the frt straps broke ?

dam it!!
it happened again
and I did not take a hard tail landing
do they make stronger straps?

for the straps, run 2 straps.
solved my problem on my tsled.

for the bending swing arms...check shock travel. test to see if the suspension is bottoming against the rubber blocks properly, and not binding before then.

assuming its a stock rear?

mine has 2 straps
and the straps that run along side the rear shock are bowed out (away from shock)

Are you talking about the two aluminium rods that run on each side of the rear shock...? These are normally referred to as "linkage pull rods".
The linkage pull rods are under tension (being pulled) as soon as the suspension is compressed. However, if they have bowed out, this means that they have taken quite some compression load (assuming that no foreign object has hit them). This only happens if the rear shock has been extended, and only if it has been extended in a quite violent way. This could possibly happen if your rear suspension has taken a big hit at the front, or if your rear limiter strap (or coupling device, not sure about what you have got...?) is broken.

i think i know what your talking about, pics would help.
i've had it happen.
and as its been pointed out its either:

hard hits.
coupling device not working/sliding properly.
shock/suspension not fully compressing.

if you say you haven't been hitting hard...check the other 2.

i've been sure to keep my coupling/sliding unit working properly..grease it every couple rides.
make sure NO ice is in the slides before each ride.

those are the most obvious starting points at least.

shocks may need rebuild/revalving?

I road with a guy that broke his straps riding over monster moguls on a PEX. When the strap broke the top shock flipped over after over extending after the strap broak. The rails along the shock were bowed out. We flipped the shock back over and stoal a strap from another PEX to limp out. I was told he just replaced the straps and left the rails alone. As mentioned earlier in this thread they are not designed to take compression so leaving them shoudn't hurt. The cause of our break was not a single hard hit but the repeated hammering of Fernies BC areas ungroomed trail system.

I'm not sure but I beive the Timber sled limit straps are a little thicker then the stockers so you could give something like that a try. I check that with others on hear before you give it a try just a thought.

PICS coming

looks like when the frt straps broke, it allowed the frt to drop and the linkage on the shock over centered?
