As I pulled into the driveway Sunday after a ride, I noticed that the LCD fuel indicator and the orange warning light on the right were on. I had only one bar left on the fuel gauge. I turned it off and then started it again and then I had 2 bars on the gauge. The manual seems to say there is a problem with the sensor. Is this true or is this a normal warning that the fuel level is low? This is the first time I have let the fuel level go that low. Does anyone know?

Normal if only changing by one bar as mine does the same thing. If you rode it a bit it would drop down again and stay there.

Fuel light comes on with one bar showing on fuel guage. Fuel guage will alternate between one and two bars when in between fuel levels. As lockburner says, with a little more riding the fuel guage will drop to one bar and stay there. When fuel light comes on and stays there, my Vector still has about 8 litres in the tank, good for about 60 more kms.

When mine comes on I have 2 1/2 US gals. left.......... A nice reserve.... MM. ;)!

Yup............ I think that's a good amount of fuel left for finding a gas station......... MM ;)! :4STroke:

Does anyone know what the LCD display is counting? Is it just a number or is at actually counting distance?

It's an estimate on the amount of fuel left........ Each bar is maybe 2 gallons........ I know when mine reaches half the bars left "4" i think it's 5 gallons......... MM.

Thanks guys. I filled up today@ 1.17/L and the gauge works fine and the light went out. I guess I just panicked.

That is good to know!! 8ltr's is a lot of fuel remaining.

For the first time yesterday, I actually go to see my fuel light flicker.
We had completed about 175K of some hard running and my light was bouncing between 2 and 1 bars, but I also noted Code 81?

After I arrived home, I looked it up and noticed it is due to my handwarmer?
I have Yamaheaters and can't help but think the Code for some reason was due in part to my low fuel issue and my light flickering?

I purchased my sled used so I have no idea how my Yamaheaters were installed, but it does seem like too much of a fluke to have this happen at the same time?
Never have I had an issue with my Yamaheaters but I am curious if anyone else has ever experienced this before as well?

My 06 Vector has a float assembly located in the left side of the fuel tank which I believe is sending the signal to the fuel level display. So if they are useing the same system it,s reading the actual gas level in the tank. This is proven out when you get down to two bars the low fuel light will go on and off if your in hilly area as the gas level is changing in the tank (for & aft), then once the level drops some more the light will stay on at one bar. As someone pointed out, I think when I checked a few year ago I would have about two gallons remaining in the tank at one bar. I noticed the other day, I was at two bars and when I pulled the machine onto the trailer, while still tilted, the low fuel light came on when the gas moved to the back of the tank.
