Fuel Mileage "my take"

I currently ride an 04 Polaris Edge Touring 600 liquid (110hp +/-, 600lb) and get around 12mpg riding fairly aggressive. My wife has an 04 Classic 550 fan (60hp +/- 500lb) and gets around 15mpg riding at a medium pace. If I ride her sled I am lucky to get 10mpg. My point here is her sled is lighter and has less horse power, but it is the riding style that makes the difference, not just the sled. I am getting an 07 Attak GT. If i get 15 I will be happy, if I get 17 I will be thrilled, if I get 12, all I got was 40hp more!

Holy smokes you guys are overly sensitive to even the slightest bit of negative posting on your Apex or Attak.

BTW: Just because a sled makes more HP doesn't mean it should use more fuel. My ZR 900 made a good 30+ more HP and weighed more than my buddies Sabercat 600EFI and I got better mileage. I know they are Cats but they are both Cats so it's comparable.

I'm not being sensitive. My sled gets 12 if I'm lucky and I don't care. My point is it's suppose to be a Toy and people are on here crying about how many miles they get to a gallon. The Day I start worrying how many miles my sleds get I'm quitting the sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the machZ got more horses than my GT and it kicked my rear end big time every time we went to the pump. I for one was really disappointed in the milage. with efi the fuel map should be able to beat a carbed version any day...... If this were not so auto manufactures would go back to carbs on their cars in order to meet goverment standards for a whole lot less money. I hope someone comes out with a different fuel map or some kind of regulater that improves the milage or i just might try to put a vector motor in my Gt

It would probley use more gas trying to pull that big sled around. :tg:

Kick the RPM's up to 10500 and see how many Miles you get per gallon

This post proves my point..

Just because you have more HP doesnt mean you will get less MPG.. it comes down to how efficent the engine is at the RPM its being used at..

Its been argued for years that carbs can get just as good as fuel milage and HP as fuel injection.. and still holds true today.. If computer is mapped just perfect it can be better but most manufactures dont go to th extreme we would if we were doing it..

Never checked mine, who cares, i will check mine when the snow is gone.

While I agree that it is a toy... some of us ride in areas where mileage is crucial (as in distance between pumps). If a Skidoo & Cat can get 15+ mpg out of their sleds... I would expect at least that.

I have no idea yet ... as this is my first 4 stroke, first Yam. I hope the mileage is decent... as it is one reason I switched rides!

I agree mileage is important to some, myself included. Not most important but it's on the list. I did 2100 miles in Ontario this year where we typically paid $4/gallon all the way up to $7.15/gallon.

I did not buy it for mileage, but its pretty good. I get 13-14 mpg rippen around. I got, at best, 10.5 on my XC800.

That is the most valid point I've seen.
