So went to fire up the mighty 2013 Apex SE this weekend, new battery fully charged, all seemed normal, heard the pump; dash did its thing and she cranked over and over till the cows were coming home. So I'm guessing 1 of 2 things electric or fuel, easiest is fuel so took the breather off and poured fuel into the throttle bodies and it fired up for 3 seconds, so I'm thinking fuel, pull the seat off disconnect the fuel line, have big blanket standing by and turn the key, fuel pump makes it's noise but no fuel comes out of the tank, yes I have 3 gallons of fresh fuel in the tank. So take the fuel pump out soak it in gas and yammie ring cleaner and try again, no joy, take it out and blow air through it and out of the top comes brown like chock let milk, do this till clear gas comes out, put it back in the tank hook up the wires turn key makes nose like normal and nothing comes out. Has anyone taken these pumps apart or am I going to waste my time, thinking vanes are toast. Yamaha wants 322.00 us . or 560 Canadian ouch.

i think you are right in that the vanes are most likely toast. you can try travis at barn of parts for a used one but i would reccomend taking the fuel lines off at the throttle bodies and blowing compressed air back through the lines to remove all impeller peices. i got lucky on a truck that this happened to me on as it had a filter up stream from the pump that caught all the chunks.

make sure the pump is running WHEN you are crancking it over and not just before. Also check that you are getting power to injectors. I had a 13 that had a bad wire between the injector power and fuel pump. I ran power directly to fuel pump and it would backfeed and energize the injectors. took a while to locate which wire was faulty.

Thanks Maim blew the line from the tank to the injector feed pipe and nothing came out, fingers crossed that the pump went south over the summer, it was running good when I put her to bed in the spring.

let us know what you find.

I had this happen to me when I first tried starting both my apex’s when I was get them out of storage this fall both the fuel pump would run but I could tell they where not pumping fuel by the sound they where making I had to keep cycling the key on and off to just run the fuel pump the new one you only took a few time till I heard I start pumping fuel but the 2007 took awhile before I finally it started to start pumping not sure Why it did this but most year I start the sled a few times during the summer but this year I did not get to doing it this year so not sure what cause it but now both sleds run and start fine.

put new pump in after 2 tries she fired up like new. I learned you must store the Apex with 3 gallons of fuel so that the pump stays submerged this is also good advise for your car/trucks always keep 1/2 tank.
