Had same problem with my Warrior, forgot to reconnect the sending unit or didn't connect it properly and it popped apart when I replaced the exhaust donuts. Disconnect and reconnect the sending unit, and push on the wires going into the back of the dash guage pod to make them secure, sometimes they come a bit loose. If still doesn't work, pull the sender and test it with an ohm meter. Fuel sender resistance is 4-10 when full and 90-100 when empty. Meter negative to black wire on sender and positive to green sender wire . Yamaha dealer could test the sender unit for you as well before you spring for a new unit.
