I filled my Apex Mtn to the top of the neck/cap. It started leaking until it was below the neck. Is this normal for all of them ?

Thxs.

Yes ,it overflows out the breather. A hot set up is to stuff a mikuni main jet into the overflow hose to minimize the loss of gas but still allows the tank to breath.

I took my vent line and brought it part way up the handle bar riser. As long as it is higher then the gas in the tank it shouldn't drain out.

That could actually still drain out. If the fluid level is higher than the vent, then if the gas tank is warmed or squeezed, it will still overflow. I suggest that the best solution is to fill it only to the neck, which is what it says in the manual.

Worked great for 3000 miles so far. I fill to the bottom of the neck only when I need the distance. Other wise I leave it a few inches below for when she goes back in to the warm garage.

Are you removing the white tube insert and filling to the bottom of the threaded neck or to the bottom of the tube?

If you're going to be that close on your distance, I would really suggest that you carry a spare tank.

I do but there is a two liter difference from the bottom of the white neck ( which I took out) to the bottom of the black neck. 500 mile days go much easier when your not getting gas every 50 miles. 15 more km's just gives me piece of mind. Plus the price of gas now makes me cry when I over filled it before and had to watch it pour onto the ground. Not to mention the environment.
