I've read a little bit about these and I've gone to their website but im still unsure which skis i want. I know the 1st gens are the narrowest and some people complain about them being tippy, others complain about the gen 2's being heavy but great for powder , and i cant find anything on the gen 3's . I mostly ride trails hard but sometimes i like to get into the powder. anyone know which skis will ride the best for an RX1? im just not to sure which ones to get quite yet.

i would say stay away from then and go with snow trackers or ski doo i hvae tryed the simmons on my apex and i dont realy have anything good to say about them in less you like a work out when you steer

I think Simmons are great on the Apex. Gen 1's. Pretty good at everything. I'd recommend them. That's with rubbers shimmed 1/4" in the rear and 8" of carbides on 1/2" wear bars. But if you are a very aggressive rider then they can lose their bite under hard cornering.

dumb question: what does shimming the skis mean and what does it do?

You have ten years worth of reading! All your questions have been asked and answered many times. Try a search. Also Try Woodies duelies, or any dually.

If you ride HARD i wouldnt get the Simmons.I would go with a C,A Razor or a C,A XTX if you want even more control in corners.I sell them all but theres millions of options and opinions out there. The razors have the same flotation as a Simmons Gen 1 but carve the corners and also get rid of darting.

FYI the Gen 3 are 8" wide with offset keels.

I agree 100% here. If you ride really hard get the C&A's and forget the Simmons. I love the Simmons skis, but they scare me under really hard cornering as they can float up on top of any crud and lose their bite.

I got the G3s on an apex. Just love the floatation and ease of steering and the feeling of riding on rails. I don't get too extreme to have any kind of problem.
