Right now I have an 01 Mountain Cat 800le, 144, with an SLP can and a vari flo. I am seriously considering jumping to an 03 RX-1 MTN but want to know some first hand honest comparisons. I like to boondock, do a little climbing, but dont care how high I make it (been hurt badly a few times) definately dont want a turbo or supercharger (to much power for me) I know they are heavy, but so is my mtn cat. I cant afford a new sled so that is out of the question, and an 03 is a lot newer than my 01. Thanks for your honest opinions. I have really liked the 4 stroke since I rode one a few years ago, and now i think I am ready to step up

are talking about rx1 mountain or rx1 shorty.
There is a rx/rs mtn section let me know I will move the post if your talking about a mtn.

When I bought my RX1MTN this year I loved it for about 3 weeks, then I absolutly hated it. I had trouble side hilling, the sled would trench like it was an excavator and it was really hard to get it unstuck by myself because of weight. :ORC The only way this sled handles properly when riding deep and steep it to do the mods that Kachess talks about. I have now hacked the exhaust and put in a Cherry bomb, intalled a 159 x 16" track (Thanks Frostbite) and the bigest difference was the wildchild rider forward kit. I did all this plus some for under $1000.00. This completly changed the sled. I am now in love again.
The RX1 was not Yamaha's finest hour when it came to sleds, but with some small mods, it becomes an amazing sled.
