My wife headed down to Oregon with the horses. This left her Phazer available.
So, I invited an old friend Larry to join Steve and I for a ride on Mt. Baker.
Larry struggled the higher we got on the mountain.
My Apex.
We finally made it above the tree line. I was absolutely exhausted helping Larry. The air at 8000ft, and him consistently getting stuck in the deep snow just wiped me out. My heart was pounding out of my chest. But once up on the mountain it was forever rolling hills all the way to the top of the volcano.
I learned a lesson, in taking a newbie on such a ride.

Always love the pics you post Berg. Would your wife have gotten stuck as often?
Not to hijack this thread, but curious as to whether the two of you ever made the TY ride in the UP this year?

OVR4D- My wife would have made it without issues. She's able to punch the throttle and get the sled on edge to maintain a line. Larry was simply too new. He's a veteran climber/alpinst having traveled the world, but hitting the alpine on something with a motor was totally foreign to him.
We did not make the Give Away Ride at Munising. Sadly. We had a new foal born that was of major importance only 3 days prior to our planned vacation start date.
Lindsey swears we will go next year. And I'm holding her to it!

I completely understand your priorities to the new foal. I didn't make the ride either. Looks like you've been getting plenty of snow where you are anyway. It would be hard for me rationalize leaving those riding conditions for a flat-lander trip to the Midwest, but I guess it's all perspective (the grass is greener sort of thing). Keep those photos coming, as I sort of live vicariously through them. Maybe one day I'll get out west, but for now it's still just a pipe dream.
